Western Welcome Flowerboat Launched

The Western “welcome” flowerboat has finally reached its destination. It has been placed at the top of Havant Road just behind the Welcome to Emsworth sign.

This project would not have come to fruition if it had not been for the generous donation from the Emsworth Food Festival Committee. Project co-ordinators Carol Haskett (GCS Computer Services) and Dave Wagg (Emsworth Home Hardware) wish to thank Tim Gilmore from Dolphin Quay boatyard for the boat and the makeover, J & D Castle the landscapers who constructed the project and Havant Borough Council for granting the licence.

Carol and Dave decided to mirror the Eastern Approach flowerboat theme although the Western boat is slightly larger. The history of the boat is that it is an old Danish lifeboat originating from the 1930’s and possibly from an ocean going cruise ship. Anyone with anymore historical information please e-mail it to the EBA Committee.
